The Palomino Explorer Edition represents a premium fit-out option that can be configured for any tray-back slide-on camper within the Palomino range. Each of our campers features an exclusively all-electric system, with various configurations available for solar capacity, battery storage, and associated electrical components. The primary differentiation of the Explorer Edition lies in its significantly enhanced solar power and battery storage capacities, which are available on any model, including the SS-500, SS-550, or SS-1251.

The Explorer Edition is equipped with 720 watts of solar power and 340Ah of lithium battery storage—these specifications are what sets it apart. Solar energy is generated via six lightweight 120W panels mounted on the roof. These panels are positioned above the roof surface using brackets to encourage airflow and maximize efficiency. Utilizing multiple smaller panels rather than fewer larger ones optimizes power output within the available space and reduces risk; if one or more panels are damaged, the remaining units continue to function normally.

Battery storage consists of two 170Ah slimline lithium batteries connected in parallel, providing a total of 340Ah at 12V. This robust solar array is complemented by a 60A MPPT solar regulator dedicated exclusively to the solar panels, as well as a 40A DC-DC charger for replenishing the batteries while traveling. Both solar and DC-DC charging are active during transit. Additionally, a 40A AC charger is included for shore power top-ups when required.

With this substantial electrical capacity, the Explorer Edition also features an Enerdrive 2600W inverter. The inverter is integrated throughout the camper, ensuring all power outlets are operational on mains electricity when available, or via the inverter otherwise.

Another notable aspect of the Explorer Edition is the inclusion of a portable induction cooktop, designed for flexible use both indoors and outdoors, with dedicated 240V external power access.

An exclusively electric fit-out does not preclude the use of gas appliances, such as a barbecue. Many owners continue to utilize a barbecue in the side storage for cooking, consistent with previous practices prior to the transition to electric systems.

While Palomino campers offer numerous additional amenities, the features outlined here highlight the key attributes that distinguish the Explorer Edition fit-out.
